Free Yearly Credit Report

There was a time when your job history and personal reference spoke wonders about you and your ability to pay for things. Today, in the age of electronics people are really just a static and we do not have that old Mom and Pop mentality. People are run through computers in order for businesses to determine how trustworthy they are. This means that no matter how responsible you really may be, your credit score and report may say something different about you. Everyone has financial struggles but the minute we start falling behind on payments of any kind is the moment our credit reports start to decline. Fortunately, in 1970 the FCRA- Fair Credit Reporting Act was put into place and amendments have been made to it ever since, making it a lot easier to be a US consumer than ever before. For example, ever adult in the US is entitled to a free yearly credit report. Not only are all consumers entitled to their credit report from one of the three agencies but they are entitled to one free yearly credit reportĀ from all three of them.

This is very helpful as it offers an avenue in which consumers can keep themselves apprised of what is happening on their report and what kind of marks, either positive or negative have been added to their credit score. They say that knowing is half the battle and when it comes to credit and your free yearly credit report this is the most important thing you, as a consumer, can know about. Do not walk through life not knowing what your credit report says or you may find yourself in a jam later in life. This is all part of being a responsible adult. If you are a young adult just getting started in life then this is even more important for you.
